The Hundred Dollar Picture that everybody Loves
But all these long Years Nobody wants to Buy
Is too Magnificent a moment of Stoic Strength in Loneliness
Too Erie in its mystery for anyone to own
Ocean and Endless Beach touch Left and Forward Horizons
Hilltop homes on the other side, countless unseen eyes watch the Scene
Unfold on dreary days and cloudless, just like in the Photograph
Viewers Wonder, what is with that woman? Who is she?
And how did that One Huge, the only boulder on a three mile beach
Get on the Beach to become legendary and on the oldest totem poles
How come we only see that woman when she’s near the Rock
Always going by never Returning
She may even be a Real Person
So who took that perfect picture anyway?
None of the Neighbors did, none of the neighbors know her
None of the neighbors care to
Picture Perfect because it’s only there that the woman is ever seen
Sand Sparkles around her feet as she walks
That doesn’t happen with anybody else
Library patrons say they’ll never forget the picture
So there’s no need to buy it, too sort of haunting, puzzling
Evokes a kind of Pity , makes you stare ,lose track of time
The enigmatic picture that everybody loves.
